Projection mapped facade for Emerson College Holiday in Downtown Boston, with a message of hope and solidarity and a custom digital "new media" artwork by Studio HHH and Emily Castro

This piece was created to activate the facade of the Emerson College’s Little Building at the darkest time of year, and was showcased in early January of 2023. TOGETHER symbolizes the oneness of all things, depicted by the solid sphere transforming from full moon into red sun, into solid gold, and eventually the spinning earth surrounded by glittering light – a message of unity and solidarity as we move into the year ahead.

This projection facade was conceptualized by the former President of Emerson College, and now President and CEO of the Boston Foundation Lee Pelton. He envisioned it as “the largest ongoing projected art canvas in the United States” as well as an opportunity to establish the College’s dedication to innovation in the arts. It was the goal of Lee Pelton and the creative team to make sure this project was accessible to and appreciated by everyone in the community.

Our studio was a part of the original design team, when the building was under construction, for the inaugural projection showcase called The Uncommon Project in 2017.  Vanessa Till Hooper acted as lead curator, working with other curators and local artists to select a rotating sequence of new media art for this large public canvas. It is now a permanent projection installation that is illuminated only once a year.
